Night at a basketball game.

JT seems to make friends instantly with whoever he talks too. We hadn't met our neighbors on one side after living here two months or so. I went outside one day to see JT talking to an older man, both deeply into their conversation of sports and other things. I am usually really reserved and have occasionally hidden when new people come around...sad I know. I'm totally an introvert and shy and quiet, so I love this about JT. He is so so good for me. Thanks to him we have met some amazing people in our neighborhood and we love them all. When this nice older man learned we were from Utah, he instantly offered us basketball tickets to the Jazz and trailblazers game without even asking if we were free that night. So nice right? Of course we said yes and we have been excited for the last month to have something to look forward too. It started close to Thomas's bed time but he surprisingly lasted almost the whole game! And I think he even had a good time for the most part.
The loudness and hundreds of people freaked him out at first and he just cuddled. And jumped every time the stadium clapped. But he warmed up soon enough and joined in the cheering.
I'm not sure why his blanket was in his mouth. But he kept it there a good minute or so. He loves his blankies.
He also really loves his daddy.
Id say we wore him out! And the Jazz even ended up winning.

Camera Pictures:: Easter Morning

A few years ago for Christmas we got a nice Canon camera-sadly we are not very good at remembering to use it! I think we have used it twice since moving to Washington-so this post is just an upload of pictures from there.  Most are from the Tulip farm we went too a few weekends ago. This first one JT took randomly one day of Thomas...it might be one of my favorite pictures of him.  I just love him and his red hair and big blue eyes.

These next ones are from Easter morning.  We had a lazy Easter morning, with it being conference weekend (which was fabulous).  General Conference weekends are my favorite-I always feel so spiritually refreshed and renewed and like I can do anything!  We had a big yummy breakfast with cinnamon rolls and fruit and sausage bake and juice and relaxed most of the day.  Thomas was so curious about his trail of eggs leading to his basket, and he probably just stared at his little basket for a good minute or two before going to touch it...almost like he wasn't sure if he was allowed to or not.

Clearly we need to be much better about getting our camera out.  Something to work on!

And some phone randoms from the weekend too:

Daddy's away

JT left for Las Vegas super early this morning. Thomas and I are on our own until Sunday afternoon. I'm trying to get out of the house a lot so that we don't miss him too much. I'm happy it's a quick trip.

We went to the zoo this morning for a few hours. It was cloudy and the perfect temperature. Thomas walked himself most of the time which helped because pushing him in the stroller on all the hills with my belly is way harder then it should be. Also we got there right when it opened so we basically had the place to ourselves!!

I finally bought some clothes for new baby. With Thomas we went so overboard on clothes. The amount of money we must have spent makes me mad to think about, since they grow so quickly! So I'm hoping to find most of baby girls clothes used or on some good sales. However. Girl clothes are SO CUTE. so we will see if my plan happens or not.
Thomas loves doing laundry and playing with clothes. He kept trying to put them over his head, and then decided to eat some.

He woke up extra happy this morning. Since daylight savings he usually wakes up between 730-8 and it has been heavenly.
I love happy morning babies.

Sickly

The flu is the worst. Tuesday night I started getting a sore throat, Wednesday morning I woke up miserable and congested with a head that weighed a million pounds. After 4 days I am finally feeling almost all the way better but still congested! And sadly-Thomas started yesterday with a runny nose and didn't sleep much last night because he couldn't breathe. There is nothing more sad then a baby who can't breathe normally. He tossed and turned all night and got maybe 6 hours of sleep total. I'm hoping tonight goes a little better because he needs his sleep! And so do we. Hopefully JT doesn't catch this bug too or we will really be in trouble. He has saved us this week by being super dad/husband and taking care of us. I honestly don't know how single moms do it, I could hardly take care of my self let alone Thomas.

We had JTs sister Amber and her hubby Casey come into town Thursday night to stay with us. Casey had work to do in Portland on Friday so we were really excited to have some visitors! Bad timing with being sick but it has been so much fun to see them and be with some family again. We have missed them so much! I have been a terrible picture taker, but I did remember to get a few today. We went into downtown Portland to a fun toy store for Thomas, and went to a huge parking lot full of food trucks after. SO many food trucks, and so many people there eating it all. I have never seen so many before, JT and Casey were in heaven. Most of them were foreign foods, including Ethiopian, Greek, Thai and Egyptian-and so many more I can't even remember-I stuck with plain old chicken fried rice. I have never been much of a food adventurer. JT got a pizza steak sandwich and loved it
We found some pigeons after that Thomas loved. Like freaked out over. He just chased them and fed them his veggie straws and belly laughed for a good half hour.
Those birds had no fears. They would come get food right out of your hands if you'd let them. And Thomas thought it was hilarious.

Portland is such a big city. So many diverse people and so many cool, unique stores and restaurants. It's so different from Utah and I am definitely a little out of my comfort zone (the Utah bubble), but the longer we are here and the more we explore the more excited I am to be somewhere new.

Driving home we had a clear view of all the mountains around us! We have rarely had clear days here so we don't see them that often. This is Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens was visible too! So pretty way off in the distance. I also am in love with all these little houseboats on the river. Reminds me of the movie Sleepless in Seattle, I think it's adorable.

Casey cooked the best enchiladas I have ever had for dinner, we watched a movie and now I'm hoping Thomas sleeps all night! Amber and Casey leave early tomorrow, we've had so much fun with them. We hope they come back and visit soon!

Cannon Beach

On Monday we took a little unpacking break and drove about an hour and a half away to the coast with JTs mom and step dad. Oregon and Washington are some of the few states that I never explored as a kid with my family so I am soo excited to be able to see everything the northwest has to offer. We drove down into Portland and then headed as west as we could possibly go to Cannon Beach. The drive there was amazing. I need to be better about taking pictures, it was definitely picture worthy. A tiny little road through huge forests of the tallest trees I have ever seen. And then all of a sudden we hit the cutest beach/tourist town and we were at the beach! It was about 50 degrees and cloudy and windy but still beautiful.
These beaches are so different here, lots of rocks all over the place. I'm excited to come back when the weather warms up to see what it's like!
Thomas's hair kills me in this one. He needs a haircut. Bad.
Out of nowhere he has turned into such a little man. He loved watching all of the seagulls and dogs that were being walked along the beach. He has become super aware of everything that goes on around him and wants to be apart of it all, never wants to stop moving, and constantly jabbers and tries to communicate.

We ate an early dinner at a local restaurant with lots of fresh seafood (puke) but I decided to be a good sport since everyone else loves it, and apparently nothing beats sea food right by the ocean. We were the only people in there other then a pair of probably 60 year old women who were way too drunk for 4:00 in the afternoon. I think we overheard their entire conversation.

After dinner we headed back to try and beat rush hour traffic. Apparently getting stuck in rush hour from Portland across the bridge to Vancouver is awful...like hours of waiting on the bridge awful.  It's crazy how different living in a huge city can be. But it's beautiful here and we can't wait to explore more this weekend!
