Sickly

The flu is the worst. Tuesday night I started getting a sore throat, Wednesday morning I woke up miserable and congested with a head that weighed a million pounds. After 4 days I am finally feeling almost all the way better but still congested! And sadly-Thomas started yesterday with a runny nose and didn't sleep much last night because he couldn't breathe. There is nothing more sad then a baby who can't breathe normally. He tossed and turned all night and got maybe 6 hours of sleep total. I'm hoping tonight goes a little better because he needs his sleep! And so do we. Hopefully JT doesn't catch this bug too or we will really be in trouble. He has saved us this week by being super dad/husband and taking care of us. I honestly don't know how single moms do it, I could hardly take care of my self let alone Thomas.

We had JTs sister Amber and her hubby Casey come into town Thursday night to stay with us. Casey had work to do in Portland on Friday so we were really excited to have some visitors! Bad timing with being sick but it has been so much fun to see them and be with some family again. We have missed them so much! I have been a terrible picture taker, but I did remember to get a few today. We went into downtown Portland to a fun toy store for Thomas, and went to a huge parking lot full of food trucks after. SO many food trucks, and so many people there eating it all. I have never seen so many before, JT and Casey were in heaven. Most of them were foreign foods, including Ethiopian, Greek, Thai and Egyptian-and so many more I can't even remember-I stuck with plain old chicken fried rice. I have never been much of a food adventurer. JT got a pizza steak sandwich and loved it
We found some pigeons after that Thomas loved. Like freaked out over. He just chased them and fed them his veggie straws and belly laughed for a good half hour.
Those birds had no fears. They would come get food right out of your hands if you'd let them. And Thomas thought it was hilarious.

Portland is such a big city. So many diverse people and so many cool, unique stores and restaurants. It's so different from Utah and I am definitely a little out of my comfort zone (the Utah bubble), but the longer we are here and the more we explore the more excited I am to be somewhere new.

Driving home we had a clear view of all the mountains around us! We have rarely had clear days here so we don't see them that often. This is Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens was visible too! So pretty way off in the distance. I also am in love with all these little houseboats on the river. Reminds me of the movie Sleepless in Seattle, I think it's adorable.

Casey cooked the best enchiladas I have ever had for dinner, we watched a movie and now I'm hoping Thomas sleeps all night! Amber and Casey leave early tomorrow, we've had so much fun with them. We hope they come back and visit soon!

B A B Y

So first things first-we announced baby number 2 this last week! I was going to wait until we found out the gender but so many people already knew, I had people texting me that I didn't even realize knew about it! We are very very excited, and slightly nervous to have two under 2, but I can't wait to add another one to our family. Especially for Thomas to have a sibling that will be so close to him in age!

We were planning on getting pregnant this spring, like March or April-with Thomas it took a good six months or so for it to happen. This time I went off birth control in October just to let my body adjust and I never expected it to happen right away! Here's our little nugget, we aren't sure on the gender yet.
I hit 14 weeks this past Sunday and have had a pretty easy pregnancy so far. I had a few weird weeks of awful nausea, but that passed. Now it's just heartburn (already!), insomnia, and feeling like I constantly just got hit by a bus. I think I tell JT every night that I have never been as tired as I am now. He has been great and so helpful though. Which helps tremendously! Everything seems to happen earlier this pregnancy, I have a very obvious baby bump which didn't happen until after 20 weeks with Thomas. The heartburn and insomnia also didn't hit me with Thomas until the last trimester, so that's been a surprise. But I can't complain much-we are so grateful for the opportunity to be parents again!

These are just pictures of our life lately: we went to Multnomah Falls on Satirday and hiked a ways up the trail. We are out of shape and it was SO steep, we didn't go to the very top. But it was beautiful!! I've never seen anything like it!

On Sunday we went to our new ward. I have never been to a ward where I have felt so instantly loved. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, I didn't pass anyone in the halls who didn't stop to say hi and introduce themselves. We already met with the bishop and I think he knows more about us in the first day then any of our past bishops did in years! So we are really excited about this ward and I think it will be a good fit for our family! Also it meets at 9 which is awesome for Thomas's schedule.

Later in the afternoon we went to the Portland temple. We went to a wedding here last fall but I wanted to take Thomas to see it, and it was a good Sunday activity.
It's a beautiful temple.

Here's a few other random pictures from our last week:
Stickers at Olive Garden. Best idea ever! It almost felt like we were on a date, they entertained him the entire time!
Brave kid. He is up and on everything.
Waking up at 6 is tough. I wish he was sleeping in this. But he has never just fallen asleep anywhere.  He's so stubborn when it comes to sleeping!!
